Vancouver, BC, April 2, 2013 — Vancouver’s Convention Centre will be transformed with the high-energy buzz of a trading pit when some of the world’s most influential travel buyers descend on Vancouver, British Columbia from May 27 – 30, 2014 to check out Canadian tourism offerings, broker deals and close sales at Rendez-vous Canada (RVC).
Thousands of face-to-face meetings between international buyers and Canadian sellers of exceptional tourism products take place at Rendez-vous Canada annually, with hundreds of millions of dollars coming to Canadian businesses. Last year’s event sealed close to $350 million in contracts, supporting over 610,000 jobs in Canada that depend on tourism spending.
Says CTC President and CEO Michele McKenzie, “We salute Destination British Columbia and Tourism Vancouver for their decision to bid for Canada’s most important international tourism trade show of the year. It’s a fantastic opportunity for some of the world’s top travel buyers to experience first-hand the amazing tourism experiences this spectacular city and province offer.”
“When it comes to marketing British Columbia as a tourist destination, our partnership with Canadian Tourism Commission helps us stay ahead in an increasingly competitive global tourism environment,” said Pat Bell, Minister of Jobs, Tourism and Skills Training (and Minister responsible for Destination British Columbia). “We are delighted to host Rendez-vous Canada, our nation’s largest international tourism conference, where British Columbian tourism companies will have a unique chance to build relationships, sell their products and grow their businesses.”
“We are proud to host Rendez-vous Canada in 2014, and we look forward to welcoming buyers from around the world and sellers from across the country,” says Stephen Pearce, Vice President of Leisure Travel, Tourism Vancouver. “The marketplace is an effective way for our member suppliers to conduct business and introduce new leisure tourism experiences. As host city in 2014, we’ll have an even better opportunity to showcase Vancouver and entice our international clients to explore more of the incredible urban and nature experiences available in our destination.”
Tourism is one of the fastest-growing economic sectors in the world, with global travellers spending over one trillion dollars annually—or two million dollars every minute.
