Marketing Specialist

Destination Canada needs an energetic Marketing Specialist to join its team in China as they inspire travelers to explore Canada. Under the direction of the Managing Director, China and the Marketing Manager, Destination BC, you’ll manage marketing projects and provide administrative support for various marketing activities.

Salary: 165,000 CNY to 215,000 CNY per year

Position Title: Marketing Specialist

Language Requirements: Fully fluent in spoken and written English and Mandarin.

Duties: Working under the direction of the Managing Director, China and the Marketing Manager, Destination BC, the Marketing Specialist manages marketing projects and provides administration support for Destination BC that contribute to the strategic and tactical proficiency of operations and in compliance with DBC’s brand and messaging.  The position is approximately 60% Marketing/Project Management and 40% Administration.


Education: Degree from a recognized university in marketing, communications or business administration, or an acceptable combination of education, training and experience.

Experience: When applying, the candidate must clearly demonstrate in writing how they meet the following experience criteria:

  • Three to five years’ experience in a professional marketing environment with related experience in the tourism industry preferred.
  • Minimum two years’ experience in an administrative role.
  • Experience in project coordination, execution, management and evaluation.
  • Experience in relationship management of key account clients.
  • Experience developing presentations and adapting based on audience needs.
  • Experience collecting and disseminating research.
  • Experience with brand integration and the application to new projects.
  • Experience developing and maintaining strong business relationships.
  • Intermediate to advanced experience utilizing MS Office Suite.


  • Knowledge of tourism industry.
  • Familiar with trade,  media practices and B2B business relationships.
  • Knowledge of administrative methods, techniques and procedures and the publication process.
  • Knowledge of methods, procedures and protocols in coordinating promotional events.
  • Knowledge of current technology and emerging communication / social media platforms.
  • High level knowledge of various software packages within MS Office Suite (i.e.: Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).


  • Ability to support and coordinate multiple projects with competing priorities in a fast paced environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks and assignments.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to edit and proofread documents.
  • Ability to work well within a team in order to maintain a smooth operation and good working relationships.
  • Ability to adapt and learn quickly/self-motivated.
  • Effective interpersonal skills.
  • Fully fluent in written and spoken Mandarin and English.
  • Availability to travel in market and internationally as required.
