Position Title: Market Research Analyst

Duties: Research, analytical and advisory services for the management, coordination and conduct of market research, analysis of consumer behaviour, survey implementation and design, and developing market and consumer intelligence products. The role is also responsible for the analysis of tourism indicators, and analysis and evaluation of economic, program and tourism issues that are horizontal in nature.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Minimum: Graduation from a recognized university with a Bachelor degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Economics, or related sociology research discipline or an acceptable combination of education, training and experience.  A Master’s degree would be an asset.

Experience: When applying, the candidate must clearly demonstrate in writing how they meet the following experience criteria:

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in market research and/or primary consumer research and analysis and/or experience in socio-economic research, trend analysis and interpretation.
  • Experience in managing the preparation of, and development of comprehensive research reports, studies and briefing materials.
  • Experience in overseeing contractors to deliver outcomes.
  • Experience managing a portfolio of projects, consultant contracts and providing guidance to others. 
  • Experience employing SPSS or other statistical technologies to analyze data and report results.
  • Experience in the tourism industry is an asset.

Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of key economic, social, technological and political change drivers in the global economy developed through previous research or work experience.
  • In depth knowledge of primary market and consumer research approaches and tools including survey design and implementation, focus groups, statistical modeling techniques, segmentation, research techniques and methodologies.
  • Knowledge of economic, analytical, research techniques and methodologies (qualitative and quantitative market research);.
  • Knowledge of project management concepts and methodologies.
  • Knowledge of the Canadian tourism sector including international trends, competitiveness, opportunities, risk and associated business climate is an asset. 
  • Knowledge of the Destination Canada, its mandate and objectives is an asset.
