Position Title: Director, Financial Planning & Analysis

Duties:

The Director, Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) provides financial analysis and planning services to Destination Canada (DC) in a multi-year planning cycle.  In addition, this position supports the ED Financial Operations in managing the budget, preparing complex financial reports, and taking the lead on financial and cross-functional projects.

The incumbent supports decisions, makes financial control and planning recommendations and provides related financial guidance and strategic financial advice to the identified EDs and/or Vice Presidents (VPs).

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Graduation from a recognized university or college with a professional accounting designation or an acceptable combination of education, training and experience. Accounting designation required, and working towards a treasury designation is an asset.

Experience: When applying, the candidate must clearly demonstrate in writing how they meet the following experience criteria:

  • Experience in managing and administering the delivery of financial services and analysis
  • Skilled at people management and development
  • Experience communicating policy, procedures and best practices
  • Experience in monitoring, supporting and tracking program and project budgets such as conducting variances, processing invoices and forecasting
  • Experience in managing multiple initiatives/activities simultaneously
  • Experience in preparing and editing information products and reports
  • Significant experience in using Microsoft Office Suite at an advanced level (including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint)

Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of financial management and accounting principles, budgeting and forecast preparation, variance and trend analysis
  • Knowledge of treasury and cash management
  • Knowledge of administrative procedures in the areas of finance, procurement and contracting

Abilities: 

  • Ability to administer the budget, variance, forecasting and modeling processes
  • Ability to resolve problems, identify trends, risks and opportunities
  • Ability to navigate complex and sensitive financial scenarios and information with the appropriate levels of discretion
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, requirements, establish priorities, coordinate work and multi-task
  • Professional judgement: high level of confidentiality, integrity and dependability
  • Ability to inspire, engage, and motivate team members to achieve overall results and success
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail: Able to communicate abstract concepts and financial information
  • Skilled at tailoring appropriate communication for various interested parties, using interpersonal and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to use MS-Office applications, SAP and other ERP systems

Personal Suitability: This position requires excellent interpersonal skills to consult with employees and management including listening and communicating effectively and the ability to remain calm under pressure to provide effective project and financial services and related advice to EDs and program areas.

Security: Security Clearance will be required.
