Corporate Communications Analyst

Destination Canada is looking for a Corporate Communications Analyst to cover a Maternity Leave within our Strategy and Corporate Communications team.

Reporting to the Director, Corporate Relations and Stakeholder Outreach, you will be responsible for developing a variety of communications materials including presentations and reports.  Our Senior Management Group will rely on your work to help interact effectively with both internal and external stakeholders.  You will also integrate the perspectives of different stakeholder groups in order to provide advice on improving the corporate communications function.

To be the successful candidate, you will have several years of experience developing communications plans and creating presentations.  You are proactive, organized, and computer-savvy.  You understand the higher level objectives and priorities of the organization, and can’t wait to apply your exceptional written and verbal communication skills to help tell the DC story.

Position Title: Corporate Communications Analyst  

Language Requirements: English is essential. French language skills would be an asset in this position.

Duties: Under the guidance of the Director, Corporate Relations and Stakeholder Outreach (the “Director”), the incumbent is responsible for developing communications products targeting the Canadian tourism industry for external and internal distribution on a variety of platforms.

The incumbent creates compelling, interactive presentations, speaking notes, issues notes, briefing notes, scenario notes, and other communications materials for DC’s Senior Management Group in their interactions with staff, stakeholders and the shareholder.

The role monitors the public environment and stakeholder perspectives and applies these insights strategically to the corporate communications function. Presents solutions should any issues arise that may impact DC’s or the Senior Management Group’s corporate reputation.

The position works closely with the Director to assist in crafting and disseminating corporate messaging, in alignment with other business units, the tourism industry, and the goals and values of the organization.


Education: Degree from a recognized university in communications or public relations or a combination of training and work experience acceptable to DC.   

Experience: When applying, the candidate must clearly demonstrate in writing how they meet the following experience criteria:

  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in communications
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience in creating presentations or speeches
  • Experience developing communications plans
  • Experience in developing social media plans
  • Experience in media monitoring and analysis
  • Experience in issues management communications
  • Experience in media relations is an asset


  • Knowledge of Canadian tourism industry and Destination Canada
  • Knowledge of communications trends and theory
  • Knowledge of Microsoft PowerPoint and other presentation and display software
  • Knowledge of presentation best practices and current trends
  • Knowledge of best practices and evolving technologies associated with print and web publishing
  • Knowledge of Government of Canada Communications Policy
  • Knowledge of social media trends and opportunities for corporate communications purposes
  • Knowledge of issues management communications and protocols
