Chef Valentine Warner’s culinary odyssey across Canada delivers a gourmet television series.
The way to contemporary travellers’ hearts is through their stomachs. With Canada’s burgeoning international culinary reputation gathering pace, the UK office of the Canadian Tourism Commission (CTC) organized a culinary odyssey of Canada for leading British chef Valentine Warner.
The five-week trip across the country was captured on film and turned into a 14-episode TV series, “Valentine Warner’s Wild Table,” which is being devoured by viewers in Europe and Asia. The British chef and food writer has a passion for nature, so he cooked with local ingredients on his journey.
The highlights are too many to list in full, but here’s a tasting menu (look away now if you’re hungry):
“We chose to support this program to help highlight Canadian cuisine to an international audience,” says Rupert Peters, CTC vice-president, International (interim). “This TV series captures the rich and fresh diversity of local Canadian food and will certainly inspire viewers to come and taste it for themselves.”
Canadian industry partners for the events were Ontario Tourism Marketing Partnership Corporation, Tourisme Québec, Tourism Newfoundland and Labrador, Tourism Prince Edward Island, Tourism New Brunswick, Tourism Nova Scotia, Tourism Yukon, Tourism Saskatchewan, Travel Alberta, Travel Manitoba and Destination British Columbia.
