Have blog, will travel. The South Korea office of the Canadian Tourism Commission (CTC) has just unveiled the 14 successful consumers taking part in the SNS Influencer Program. Over the next 12 months, they will spread out across Canada to Banff and Lake Louise, AB, British Columbia, Ontario, Quebec and Yukon and then tell their communities about their Canadian travel experiences through stories, photos and videos.

The lucky 14 were selected from face-to-face interviews with a final 30, drawn from an initial 1,640-strong application list. On their Canadian travel itinerary: Signature Experiences Collection®(SEC) members as well as other festivals, great food, shopping, urban adventures, culture, nature and—of course—Canadian people.

Without further ado, meet the bloggers: JooBun Kim, JuHyun Kim, Bruce Moon, JaeJin Park, Taeyang Park, MinJi Seo, SeoHee Shin, EunJung Lee, JaeYoung Lee, JaeWon Lee, YoungKwang Jeon, HyeWon Jeon, HyunJoo Jung and Dam Ha.

Partnering CTC for the program are Banff and Lake Louise Tourism, Tourism British Columbia, Ontario Tourism Marketing Partnership Corporation, Tourisme Québec, Tourism Yukon, Air Canada and Delta Air Lines.

“Social media is spurring the development of the fully independent traveller market in South Korea, especially the younger generation who have an unquenchable thirst for international experiences,” says Don Byun, CTC-South Korea managing director. “This program will increase advocacy, boost engagement around Canada as well as South Korean perceptions around Canadian local food, urban life and culture.”

On March 23, CTC-South Korea brought 70 local travel-trade and 15 media reps to Seoul for an intro to CTC’s Signature Experiences Collection®(SEC). They were joined by three Canadian partners (Brewster, Niagara Helicopters Ltd. and Fairmont Hotels & Resorts) and four airlines (Air Canada, United Airlines, Delta Airlines and EVA Airways) at Garden Place in Seoul. The event opened with remarks from Michael Danagher, Senior Trade Commissioner at The Embassy of Canada to the Republic of Korea in Seoul, as well as Don Byun, CTC-South Korea managing director, and Siobhan Chretien, CTC regional managing director, Emerging Markets Americas/Asia. They were followed by the SEC introduction in full and networking.
