CTC leads two groups of international photographers on FAM trips to Northwest Territories and Quebec.
Seeing is believing: the Canadian Tourism Commission (CTC) organized back-to-back photography-focused FAM trips for international media in February. The resulting evocative images and stories that they shared on their networks will help inspire travellers around the world.
CTC and Tourism Northwest Territories brought four international photographers with a mix of traditional and social media presence to spend this week in the “Aurora Capital of the World.” Ticiana Porto (Brazil), Carlos Henrique de Carvalho (Brazil), Zony Maya (Mexico), William Patino (Australia) and videographer Ian Mackenzie (Canada) are capturing majestic displays of the aurora borealis, as well as an ice-road trip, snowshoeing, dogsledding and ice fishing. Follow their adventures on the Tumblr blog or on Twitter, where they are sharing their tales using the #NWTaurora hashtag.
The NWT trip comes after the conclusion of the #Quebec1x1 media trip. CTC partnered with Tourisme Québec to bring four leading Instagrammers from Australia to La Belle Province to experience its winter delights Jan. 31 to Feb. 7.
Paul Fleming, Emily Schreck, Lauren Bath and Pauly Vellawere spoilt for choice through their viewfinders on their eight-day stay. Their itinerary saw them spend a day at the world-famous Carnaval de Québec (that included the world’s biggest snowball fight on the Plains of Abraham), spending a night the Hôtel de Glace, visiting Le Massif de Charlevoix, checking out Igloofest in Montréal plus dogsledding, snowmobiling, and much more.
The foursome shared their images and stories on a special Tumblr blog as well as their own Instagram channels using the #Quebec1x1 hashtag.
The two trips followed in the astoundingly successful steps of CTC’s 2013 Instagram FAMs. The seven-day Alberta1X1 trip resulted in 243 images that generated 2.3 million likes and 39,000-plus comments from its Instagram fans in 84 countries.
