CTC aims for golden goals for Canada.

Social media contest in Germany looks to boost awareness about Canadian travel experiences and FIFA Women’s World Cup in 2015.

The global game is coming to Canada. As part of the build-up to the FIFA Women’s World Cup Canada 2015™, the Canadian Tourism Commission (CTC) has launched a social media contest in Germany, one of soccer’s traditional powerhouses and one of Canada’s key international tourism markets.

The #KickeninKanada contest wants German consumers to submit videos and photos that show their own skills with a soccer ball for the chance to claim a trip for two to Canada, including the FIFA Women’s World Cup™ final in Vancouver, BC, on July 5. CTC’s partner for the contest, which closes April 24, is German tour operator America Unlimited.

Consumers taking part can first watch a promotional video featuring German midfielder Lena Goessling and striker Anja Mittag from their FAM trip to Vancouver, BC, this past summer. The two soccer stars had many fine dining, shopping and outdoor adventure experiences, including Grouse Mountain, Granville Island and learning to paddleboard.

CTC-Germany is using the influence of German women soccer players to engage potential travellers through travel trade and social networks to build awareness and excitement.

The FIFA Women’s World Cup™ runs June 6-July 5 and is based in Vancouver, BC, Edmonton, AB, Winnipeg, MB, Ottawa, ON, Montréal, QC, and Moncton, NB—six Canadian cities on the edge of nature and central to Canada’s Summer of Sport.
