Mexicans get up to speed on Canada.

Explora Canada consumer fair highlights travel, trade and education opportunities.

Canada is a hot topic for Mexican travellers. The latest proof came at the recent Explora Canada fair in Mexico City, where just under 3,000 consumers came to learn about the wealth of travel, trade and education opportunities that Canada offers.

The fair was organized by the Mexico office of the Canadian Tourism Commission(CTC) alongside Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada, Air Canada, Aeromexico, BlackBerry, Scotiabank and Imagine Education.  They were joined by 12 tour operators, 26 schools and eight food suppliers.

There was plenty to do for consumers at Centro Banamex Oct. 4-5: Canadian food and wine tastings, info from 28 schools plus contests on Facebook and Twitter. CTC-Mexico’s key account tour operators also put their Canada packages on sale from Sept. 29-Oct. 5 to help drive immediate sales.

The improved visa processes in Mexico are already paying real dividends for Canada. According to CTC’s latest Tourism Snapshot, year-to-date July 2014 visitor numbers have risen 12% over the previous year, while July itself saw a 14% increase in Mexican travellers picking Canada as their destination of choice.
