CTC offers Americans chance to ‘Travel like the Royals.’

Competition on Facebook has prize of five-star vacation in Ottawa, ON, or Alberta.

So you watched the royal wedding of William and Kate (aka their Royal Highnesses the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge) and you’ve got the commemorative tea towel and mug—now the Canadian Tourism Commission (CTC) is offering American consumers their own taste of the regal life.

It couldn’t be simpler. US consumers head to our Facebook page and enter the sweepstakes for a chance to “Travel like the Royals.” On offer is a dream five-star vacation to Ottawa, ON, or Alberta, staying in luxurious (and distinctly English-castle-like) Fairmont Hotels & Resorts properties along the way. The winners will be drawn on May 27. Partnering CTC for the sweepstakes are Travel Alberta, Ottawa Tourism and Fairmont Hotels & Resorts, while NBC is promoting the contest on air and online.

There is additional promotion going on in New York City, NY, and Boston, MA, with “Travel like the Royals” Ottawa and Fairmont Hotels & Resorts mini videos shown in taxis. In Los Angeles, CA, NBC is showcasing Alberta travel experiences at gas stations using its Gas Station TV network.

It’s all part of the build-up to the newly titled their Royal Highnesses’ first official overseas trip to Canada June 30-July 8. Their itinerary takes in Alberta, the Northwest Territories, Prince Edward Island, Quebec and Ottawa.

“Billions round the world watched the fairy-tale wedding of the year,” says Kate Duffy, CTC social media manager. “This sweepstakes gives Americans a chance to feel some of the magic themselves.”
