‘Café de Flore’ evokes Canada for French movie fans.

Facebook contest offers chance to win trip for two to Quebec, the location for emotional new movie.

Lights, camera, action: the Canadian Tourism Commission(CTC) has just launched a Facebook contest in France in conjunction with the movie “Café de Flore.” The promotion—“Which true love would you bring with you to Canada?”—offers entrants a chance to win a trip for two to Montréal and Québec City, QC, tickets to see the movie and features interviews with the movie’s cast and crew giving their impressions of Canada.

“Café de Flore” stars Vanessa Paradis and Kevin Parent and is written and directed by renowned Montréal, QC,director Jean-Marc Vallée. Vallée’s previous movies include 2005’s C.R.A.ZY, which was also set in his home city.The movie centres onheart-rending love stories, following the lives of a young mother and her disabled son in 1960s Paris in parallel with that of a newly divorced DJ in present-day Montréal, QC. Underpinning the movie is a strong theme: the power of music to make people change their behaviour.  

The movie opens in France Jan. 25 and will have CTC ads screened at the première. CTC’s promotion will also get an extra push on Twitter. Enjoy a snapshot of the movie in this trailer:

 

 

Other news from the France market: the Signature Experiences Collection® (SEC) made its first Gallic splash on Dec. 20 at the Paris offices of Tourisme Synergique, CTC’s general sales agent. Sixty media and trade guests gathered for a cocktail reception to learn about CTC’s bold program to boost international visitor numbers. As a holiday-season treat, CTC’s partners took home a bottle of Inniskillin icewine.

Later this month (January), 40 leading Thomas Cook agents are travelling to British Columbiato experience the large range of winter activities in Whistler and Vancouver, from skiing, snowboarding and snowshoeing to après ski, great food and other urban activities. Lucky them!
