Jon Mamela oversees Destination Canada’s marketing and sales activities in its Core and Emerging markets. Jon has an extensive marketing background, with experience launching and building global brands, accelerating revenue growth through multi-channel marketing strategies, developing top-drawer CRM programs and driving innovation.
Prior to joining Destination Canada, Jon was Global Director of Customer Experience Marketing & Partnerships for Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts. Acting as the company’s “customer advocate,” he developed Four Seasons’ customer experience marketing strategy and led the global campaign strategy.
From 2009 to 2011, Jon was Travel Alberta’s vice-president, Marketing & Sales, where he developed and executed its annual business plus marketing and sales plans. He also led the development of its award-winning tourism brand, “Remember to Breathe.” In that role, he was the driving force behind multiple partnerships with Destination Canada, including the integration of the Explorer Quotient® (EQ®) model into the organization’s global marketing and sales plans.
Jon spent 10 years at Fairmont Hotels & Resorts during its most significant period of international expansion, serving as its Director Brand Strategy & Innovation and Director CRM & Loyalty. Before he made a career switch into the hospitality industry, he worked almost five years at Procter & Gamble, helping establish P&G as a leading global Internet marketer.
Jon holds a BSc in Chemistry from Bethany College, WV, as well as an MBA from Miami University, OH. He leads an active life that includes golf, hockey and Cross-Fit and, having grown up in Saskatchewan, he bleeds green as a diehard Roughriders fan.
