Business Events Canada (BEC), the division of the Canadian Tourism Commission (CTC) responsible for bringing meetings, conventions and incentive programs to Canada, hosted the third version of its Annual Vision Awards on 21 May during IMEX 2013.
June 4, 2013: In an evening to celebrate partnerships and innovation in promoting Canada, BEC honoured international clients and media who share a common vision "To inspire the world to explore Canada". Below is a sample of some of our winners!
The Vision Award for “International Customer of the Year” was given to Elsevier—second time winner—as a company who has worked closely with Business Events Canada and its partners to bring a significant piece of business to the country. Among other events, the company confirmed Toronto for their International Conference on Biotribology 2014.
The Vision Award for “Partner Organization of the Year” was presented to the Sustainable Events Summit as an organization that collaborated with Business Events Canada to expand Canada’s presence and advance the brand on the global stage. The inaugural summit, which took place in January 2013, provided a great platform for BEC and its two partners Travel Alberta and Tourism Vancouver to showcase their sustainable initiatives whilst achieving great exposure.
Michele Saran, Executive Director, Business Events Canada commented: “The Annual Vision Awards are a great way to recognise our partners who have supported us throughout the previous year and become Ambassadors for the Country. It is a great way for us to showcase to the global meetings community the successes we have achieved by building on these fantastic collaborations.” Saran continued, “IMEX 2013 marked a significantly important trade event for us as we announced our new strategy for driving business into Canada. This strategy has already has resulted in us securing the 2014/2015 TED Conference which will gather thought leaders from multiple disciplines in Canada marking the country as a centre of innovation and ‘cool.’ We remain firmly committed to working with our partners and clients to bring events of all kinds to Canada.”
Emma Cashmore, Managing Director, Axis Travel Marketing, the European GSA for Business Events Canada added, “IMEX is integral to our marketing strategy, the tradeshow allows us to sit down and have business discussions with key contacts all in one place. The number of appointments that we had in our stand, not only for BEC but across all of our partners, was phenomenal and it really shows us that we are going down the right path with our new strategy.”
